Support Patients

Have you ever tried to use a  co-pay assistance to pay for your medication only to be told that the difference of that assistance will no longer be applied towards your deductible? This is the latest scheme to make money for Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) who have no shame in making patients pay more out of their own pockets for their medications and impacting patients living with conditions such as Hemophilia, Epilepsy, Auto-Immune Diseases and more.

Our Goals

Patients for Prescription Access cares about making medication affordable and accessible for all patients.

Affordability

We understand that many times when people say that their medication is too expensive, it's really the co-pay that's expensive.  The out of pocket costs for medication can be a burden for many families and PFPA works with policy makers to ensure that insurance costs cover more of the actual cost of medication.

Access

Affordability and access to treatments go hand in hand. If someone can’t afford the medication they’ve been prescribed, it is more likely they will abandon their treatment. Access to medication is also about ensuring that proper policies that protect patients and limit insurer interference.

Advocate

PFPA works for patients and wants to advocate for policies that help deliver a better health care system for people everywhere.

Understanding Accumulator Adjusters

Mission Statement

Insurance companies are constantly putting patient health at risk by covering less and less of the cost of critical medications.

Patients shouldn’t have to choose between paying for the cost of their medications and the rest of life’s necessities. That’s exactly what’s happening to thousands of patients in Massachusetts and elsewhere across the country.
