Why should health insurers get paid twice while you struggle to pay your bills? That's exactly the question we're asking. We all know that manufacturer drug assistance programs can help patients afford and adhere to their medication regimen. But, while health insurers let you use them, increasingly they are no longer allowing the coupons to count toward your deductible.

So, after you've used up the value of your co-pay assistance, you're still on the hook for meeting your deductible!

It's simply wrong. We need to stop insurers from double dipping.

AN ACT PROHIBITING CERTAIN HEALTH CARRIERS AND PHARMACY BENEFITS MANAGERS FROM EMPLOYING COPAY ACCUMULATOR PROGRAMS.

To require certain health carriers and pharmacy benefits managers to give credit for payments made by third parties for the amount of, or any portion of the amount of, an insured's or enrollee's cost-sharing liability for a covered benefit.
